2026 Winner
Hudson Flummerfelt
It’s our honor to announce the 2026 recipient of the Gary Harper Scholarship:
Hudson is a graduating senior at Platte Valley High School with a 3.98 GPA. He has been deeply involved in his school community through FBLA, Student Council, and the National Junior Honor Society. These groups gave him opportunities to serve others, lead projects, and compete at the national level in FBLA business competitions.
Baseball has always been at the center of Hudson’s life. A four-year varsity starter for the Broncos, he spends his off-seasons training at BB Sports and playing travel baseball for programs like the Greeley GOJOs and BB Sports. He has earned All-State Honorable Mention and First Team All-Conference. He was also recognized by the Colorado Dugout Club Coaches Association as a Top 50 Underclassman.
Beyond playing, Hudson is passionate about giving back to the game. He works as a youth hitting instructor with the Fort Collins Baseball Club and helped coach an 8th grade summer team to prepare them for high school ball. He has also helped organize and run camps for younger players. In every setting, he focuses on fostering a love for the game in the next generation.
His commitment to service extends beyond baseball. Hudson has contributed dozens of hours to his community. He has created tie blankets for local hospitals, helped elementary students with crafts, organized a shoe drive for St. Jude’s, and served meals during the holidays. He has also been an announcer at school events and a regular volunteer at Platte Valley athletic concessions.
This fall, Hudson will attend The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. He will study Business Finance and play college baseball for a program known for its excellence in NCAA Division III. His ultimate goal is to become a college baseball coach. This is a calling that combines his love for the game, his leadership skills, and his desire to mentor young athletes. He dreams of building a program that develops not just players, but people of character.
Hudson’s passion for baseball is matched by his heart for others. Whether it is leading on the field, mentoring younger players, or being a positive force in his community, he embodies the spirit of the Friends of Baseball mission.
Congratulations, Hudson. You are a leader, a role model, and a difference-maker in the game we all love.
